Vacation Accrual. Regular employees shall accrue hours of vacation with pay for each hour of compensation to a maximum of eighty (80) hours per biweekly work period according to the following schedule, commencing with the employee's hire date of his latest period of County employment.

Vacation Accrual. A. During the first three (3) years of employment, a full-time employee in a regular or limited-term position shall earn .0385 hours of vacation for each hour of pay during his or her regularly scheduled workweek (approximately eighty [80] hours per year). Part-time employees will earn vacation on a pro- rated basis. Such credit shall be applied to the employee's vacation accrual account only upon completion of each pay period. B. After an employee in a regular or limited-term position has been paid for six thousand two hundred forty (6240) regularly scheduled hours, the employee shall earn .0577 hours of vacation for each hour of pay during his or her regularly scheduled workweek (approximately one hundred twenty [120] hours per year), but not to exceed credit for more than eighty (80) regularly scheduled hours in any pay period. Such credit shall be applied to the employee's vacation accrual account only upon completion of each pay period. C. Commencing with the pay period following that in which the employee completed ten (10) years of continuous full-time County service (20,800 regularly scheduled hours), an employee in a regular or limited-term position shall earn .077 hours of vacation for each hour of pay during his or her regularly scheduled workweek (approximately one hundred sixty [160] hours per year), under the same terms and conditions as under subsection B., above. D. The maximum allowable vacation credit an employee may accrue at any one (1) time for employees with less than ten (10) years of continuous County service shall be two hundred forty (240) hours. The maximum allowable vacation credit an employee may accrue at any one (1) time for employees with ten (10) or more years of continuous County service (20,800 regularly scheduled hours) shall be three hundred twenty (320) hours. An employee who has accrued the maximum allowable vacation credit will not accrue additional credit until the employee’s vacation credit drops below the maximum allowed.

When an employee notifies the Agency they plan to separate from Agency service within the next two (2) calendar months, and the employee has at the time of such notice more than three hundred (300) hours of accrued vacation hours, the Agency and employee will work together to find a mutually agreeable time for the employee to take time off to reduce accrued vacation hours down to the three hundred (300) hours. An appointing authority may authorize cash payment of forty (40) hours, upon determining that granting of vacation leave is not appropriate. The designated supervisor must document the denial of the vacation leave request. Cash payout for accrued vacation leave must not be granted more than once in each fiscal year.

Vacation Accrual. Regular, full-time and regular part-time employees accrue .05 hours of vacation time for each hour worked (maximum 40 hours per week) during the first two years of uninterrupted employment with the University. Thereafter, an additional eight (8) hours per year (four (4) hours for part-time) is added with each calendar year of uninterrupted employment with the University, except that the number of hours earned in any single year shall not exceed one hundred sixty (160) hours (part-time, eighty (80) hours). Unused vacation time may be carried over into the next calendar year providing the number of hours does not exceed the hours earned the preceding year. Probationary employees shall earn vacation allowance at the same rate but shall not be eligible to use such allowance until after six (6) months of employment. Employees shall receive compensation for accrued vacation but unused vacation upon leaving the employ of the University provided that the employee gives at least two (2) weeks notice of their intent to leave. Vacation time shall not be used to continue employment beyond the last day worked for the University.

Upon return to his/her position the member will be credited with vacation leave as if they had been on the payroll during the absence for military leave • While on leave with pay status. • While on leave resulting from an industrial accident. Vacation does not accrue to the member in the following circumstances: • During an authorized leave of absence without pay. • During the period of non-responsibility for members working a 43-week schedule. • While on sick leave bank leave. Vacation accrues to a maximum of sixty-four (64) days. A bargaining unit member who is reinstated or reemployed after less than three (3) years shall have his/her prior service included in determining his/her length of service for purpose of vacation accrual. A regular part-time bargaining unit member shall be granted vacation leave in the same proportion that his/her part-time service bears to full-time service. Vacation leave accrued during any payroll period shall be credited on the last day of the payroll period based on the bargaining unit member’s full-time equivalent status on that date and shall be available for use the following day.
