Since 2005, and the destruction of nearly 80% of the public school buildings in Orleans Parish by Hurricane Katrina, the Recovery School District (RSD) and Orleans Parish School Board (OPSB) have worked together to rebuild and renovate public school facilities in an effort to create a quality educational environment for all public school students. Since then, both systems have also worked toward transforming a once fractured educational environment into one that serves all children well and in a diverse number of ways.
