Background: With the second Amendment to the Agreement (Resolution 3.7) adopted at the 3rd Session of the Meeting of Parties (Bristol, United Kingdom, July 2000) having entered into force in August 2001, the Agreement Title has changed into “Agreement on the Conservation of Populations of European Bats” and the Agreement text was amplified in view of the non-European Range States where these populations occur. Since then the geographical scope of the Agreement has been regularly reviewed both by the Advisory Committee and following Sessions of the Meeting of Parties. However, Resolution 2.5 adopted at the 2nd Session of the Meeting of Parties (Bonn, Germany, July 1998) in which the geographical scope of the Agreement was basically limited to the Continent of Europe has been maintained until now.
