The purpose of the Agreement is in the mutual interest of the Em- ployer and of the employees, to provide for the operation of the services of the Employer under methods which will further, to the fullest extent possible, the safety and the efficiency of the opera- tion, and the continuation of employment under proper compensa- tion and reasonable working conditions. It is recognized by this Agreement to be the duty of the Employer, the Union and the em- ployees, to cooperate both individually and collectively for the ad- vancement of that purpose. This Agreement continues to be recog- nized as an “existing Agreement” in accordance with applicable National Master Article language.
