FiledDecember 30th, 2021The United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA) entered into force on July 1, 2020, replacing the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA), which had been in effect since 1994. USMCA revised and modernized NAFTA. Pursuant to trade promotion authority (TPA), the Trump Administration provided the required consultations and notifications to Congress. Congress, in both legislative and oversight capacities was active in numerous trade policy issues related to the renegotiation of NAFTA and continues to be active in USMCA implementation.
