THE NATIONAL AERONAUTICS AND SPACE ADMINISTRATION GLENN RESEARCH CENTER AND NORTHROP GRUMMAN UNDER SPACE ACT UMBRELLA AGREEMENT NO. SAA3-1724, DATED 12/19/2022 (ANNEX NUMBER 05).November 2nd, 2023
FiledNovember 2nd, 2023This Annex shall be for the purpose of supporting Northrop Grumman's (“NG” or Partner”) development of a 1-kilowatt Hall-effect thruster, which is anticipated to launch in 2025 on NG's Mission Extension Pod (MEP) mission. This annex will result in the National Aeronautics and Space Administration Glenn Research Center (“NASA” or “NASA GRC”) supporting NG with a qualification thermal vacuum test campaign. NASA has specialized equipment and expertise to perform thermal vacuum cyclic testing of electric propulsion qualification hardware that requires operation during each hot ramp and soak. This specialized capability is not readily commercially available. This activity is consistent with the purpose set forth in Article 2 of the Space Act Umbrella Agreement (No. SAA3-1724) between the Parties (the “Umbrella Agreement”) for the Partner to develop, fabricate, and test electric propulsion systems using NASA GRC’s goods, services, facilities, and/or equipment to advance NG’s interests.
