Contract Type FiledNovember 17th, 2024It has come to the attention of the Commander-in-Chief and the Council of Administration that certain properties, specifically, Grand Army of the Republic (G.A.R.) records may be in or come into the possession of the Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War (SUVCW). Provisions exist in the SUVCW Congressional Charter, the Deed of Conveyance between the G.A.R. and the SUVCW, and the National Policy on Records of the Grand Army of the Republic (August 2013) which directs the SUVCW to return said records to the communities where Grand Army posts were located, so far as possible, for the use and benefit of the communities where such posts were located. As such, in addition to other concerns, Sections 1 and 3 of General Order #22, Series 2023 – 2024, Policy Loan and/or Deposit of Artifacts Policy Vendor Tables Deposit Agreement Form 80 present potential conflicts with the aforementioned documents.
