Problematiku \u0159e\u0161en\u00ed n\u00e1kladn\u00ed dopravy v uzlu zavr\u0161\u00ed mo\u017en\u00fd p\u0159esun st\u00e1vaj\u00edc\u00edho n\u00e1kladov\u00e9ho obvodu ze sou\u010dasn\u00e9 ru\u0161en\u00e9 polohy v \u017dST Plze\u0148 hl.n. do lokality b\u00fdval\u00e9 vojensk\u00e9 vle\u010dky v \u017dST Koterov. V\u00fdstavba nov\u00e9ho modern\u00edho p\u0159ekladi\u0161t\u011b pro n\u00e1kladn\u00ed dopravu u leti\u0161t\u011b L\u00edn\u011b, jak bylo uv\u00e1d\u011bno v n\u011bkter\u00fdch studijn\u00edch materi\u00e1lech, je s ohledem na sou\u010dasn\u00fd objem n\u00e1kladky a v\u00fdkladky v uzlu nepot\u0159ebn\u00e1. \u0158e\u0161en\u00ed osobn\u00ed dopravy v \u017eelezni\u010dn\u00edm uzlu mus\u00ed spl\u0148ovat ve\u0161ker\u00e9 po\u017eadavky na vnitrost\u00e1tn\u00ed i mezin\u00e1rodn\u00ed p\u0159epravu osob. U vnitrost\u00e1tn\u00ed se krom\u011b d\u00e1lkov\u00e9 dopravy klade p\u0159edev\u0161\u00edm d\u016fraz na rozvoj region\u00e1ln\u00ed taktov\u00e9 dopravy pro hromadnou p\u0159epravu osob. U mezin\u00e1rodn\u00ed jsou zav\u00e1d\u011bny rovn\u011b\u017e pravideln\u00e9 spoje, u n\u00ed je v\u0161ak kladen d\u016fraz sp\u00ed\u0161e na spolehlivost nikoliv \u010detnost. Rozsah koleji\u0161t\u011b v \u017eelezni\u010dn\u00edm uzlu spl\u0148uje sou\u010dasn\u00e9 n\u00e1roky na osobn\u00ed p\u0159epravu. Dal\u0161\u00ed rozvoj osobn\u00ed dopravy v plze\u0148sk\u00e9m uzlu je v\u0161ak ohrani\u010den p\u0159edev\u0161\u00edm omezen\u00fdm prostorem obvodu osobn\u00edho n\u00e1dra\u017e\u00ed \u017dST Plze\u0148 hl.n., kter\u00fd je d\u00e1n okoln\u00ed z\u00e1stavbou m\u011bsta.
