Acute Care Hospital definition

Acute Care Hospital means a Hospital that provides Acute Care Services. Adjudicate means to deny or pay a Clean Claim. Administrative Services see MCO Administrative Services. Administrative Services Contractor see HHSC Administrative Services Contractor.
Acute Care Hospital means an institution which is licensed as such by duly constituted state authority and which maintains an operating room equipped to handle surgical procedures, is staffed always with one or more Physicians and one or more Registered Nurses (R.N.) for patients admitted for a variety of medical conditions. It is not, other than incidentally, a place for rest, a place for the aged, a place for the Treatment of Substance Abuse, a place for alcoholics, or a nursing or convalescent home.
Acute Care Hospital means a hospital which maintains and operates organized facilities and services as approved and licensed by the Department of Health for the diagnosis, treatment, or care of persons suffering from acute illness, injury, or deformity and in which all diagnosis, treatment, and care are administered by or performed under the direction of persons licensed to practice medicine or osteopathy in the State of New Jersey, and includes all land and buildings that are used in the delivery of health care services by such hospital and its medical providers or that are used for the management, maintenance, administration, and security of such hospital and its medical providers, and any licensed satellite emergency care facility of such hospital.
