Emergency rescue personnel definition

Emergency rescue personnel means a public employee, including, but not limited to, a firefighter or emergency rescue personnel, as defined in Section 245.1 of the Penal Code, or personnel of a local emergency medical services (EMS) agency, as designated pursuant to Section 1797.200, or a poison control center, as defined by Section 1797.97, who responds to any condition caused, in whole or in part, by a hazardous material that jeopardizes, or could jeopardize, public health or safety or the environment.
Emergency rescue personnel means any person who is an officer, employee, or member of a fire department or fire protection or firefighting agency of the federal government, State of California, a Town, county, Town and county, district, or other public or municipal corporation or political subdivision of California, or of a sheriff’s department, police department, or a private fire department, whether that person is a volunteer or partly paid or fully paid, while he or she is actually engaged in providing emergency services.
