Fitness for Duty definition

Fitness for Duty means the employee is free from the effects of drugs and/or alcohol and their corresponding hangover effects. No employee shall use alcohol four (4) hours prior to reporting for duty or during the hours they are on call. Not only is an individual’s concentration, reflexes, coordination and judgment impaired during the use of the drug (the “high), but these skills may also be significantly impaired during the hangover. Fitness for duty may be determined by, but is not limited to the following observed behaviors:

Fitness for Duty means the individual is fit to perform assigned tasks competently, safely, and in a manner that does not compromise or threaten the safety or health of that person or others, the environment, or property.

Fitness for Duty means to work in a manner suitable for performing satisfactorily, their assigned job. To determine “fitness for duty” a medical evaluation may be required and may include drug and/or alcohol testing.

Examples of Fitness for Duty in a sentence

• If the employee fails to furnish conclusive evidence that the absence from duty is necessary, or if the employee fails to undergo an evaluation or furnish a medical report as requested by the EMPLOYER in accordance with the Article herein titled "Fitness for Duty," the EMPLOYER shall have the right to require the employee to return to work on a specified date.

• Fitness for Duty: The District may require a physical and/or mental examination at the expense of the District where reasonable doubt arises in the minds of the District concerning the current health of the employee, and consistent the limitations imposed by applicable state and federal law.

• A monthly update of the condition of the employee/immediate family member, using a Fitness for Duty Form, shall be completed by the attending medical care provider and submitted to the Human Resources Director.

• If the employee’s test results are positive, the employee will be referred to and disciplined in accordance with the Fitness for Duty Program (see below).

• All requests for a Fitness for Duty evaluation or reasonable suspicion examination will be reviewed and approved or denied by the Associate Vice President of Human Resources Officer or designee prior to sending an employee for an evaluation.

More Definitions of Fitness for Duty

Fitness for Duty means the ability to perform all required physical and mental tasks associated with the employee's job duties to a satisfactory level and without endangering self, others, or property. MEDICATION: means any drug or derivative (prescription, over-the-counter, legal or illegal) used by an individual.

Fitness for Duty or “FFD” means the fitness-for-duty programs, developed pursuant to 10 C.F.R. Part 26, that provide reasonable assurance that nuclear facility personnel are trustworthy, will perform their tasks in a reliable manner, are not under the influence of any substance, legal or illegal, that may impair their ability to perform their duties, and are not mentally or physically impaired from any cause that can adversely affect their ability to safely and competently perform their duties.

Fitness for Duty means the ability to perform all required physical and mental tasks associated with the employee’s job duties to a satisfactory level and without endangering self, others, or property.

Fitness for Duty. Means a state (physical, mental and emotional) which allows the individual to perform assigned tasks competently and in a manner which does not compromise or threaten the safety or health of that individual or others, the environment, or Company property. Final determination of what constitutes "Fit for Duty" for any specific task will lie in the discretion of the Company, manager or supervisor using the guidelines provided by this Program and, where applicable and appropriate, other available assessment procedures.

Fitness for Duty for purposes of this policy, means employees suspected to be unfit to perform some or all of their employment duties as a result of the use or reasonably suspected use of substances, such employees will be subject to mandatory testing. Refusal to submit to a substance test is cause for immediate termination of employment.

Fitness for Duty means that a member of this Department shows, through their conduct, that they are mentally, psychologically and physically fit, and able to perform their assigned duties. If a member's conduct and/or field actions show a lack of fitness or ability to perform required, job- related tasks, a supervisor or commander will initiate action to document such incidents/issues.
