Government Service definition
Government Service means the appointment or election of the Eligible Director to a position with the federal, state or local government or any political subdivision, agency or instrumentality thereof.

For earlier periods of service to count there must be no breaks between the periods of service, except where the break in service was less than one month and occurred where an offer of employment in relation to the second period of service was accepted by the employee before the first period of service ended (whether or not the two periods of service are with the same employer or agency). Absences from work, which do not count as service for any purpose, will not count as service for redundancy pay purposes.
