Household Effects definition
Household Effects or “HHE” means those items that are the personal property of Embassy officials and members of their family, and are therefore to be packed and transported at U.S. Government expense. This includes furniture, personal effects and consumables that, because of volume and weight, are shipped via surface freight. (Note: See the clause in Section 1, Attachment 2, and paragraph 5 entitled "Prohibited Items" for a listing of items which are not to be packed or transported at U.S. Government expense).

Examples of Household Effects in a sentence
Many different types of insects can damage Household Effects in transit or storage.
This designated person shall have supervision as his/her function during the time the Contractor is in the client's facility or residence and when Household Effects, Unaccompanied Baggage, or other cargo is being loaded into lift vans or other shipping containers.
The client will identify such items and set them apart from the rest of the Household Effects.
Household Effects and Unaccompanied Air Baggage should be packed in a manner requiring the least cubic measurement, producing packages that will withstand normal movement without damage to crates, lift vans, cartons, or contents and at a minimum of weight.
The packer is to note the ratio of artwork to Household Effects among the client's effects, and if the ratio appears excessive, the contractor shall notify the COR.

Household Effects means the furniture, household equipment and personal effects of an employee and their dependents used in the regular dwelling, but excludes livestock, lumber, heavy equipment or similar items, and any items used in connection with a secondary source of family income. GENERAL POLICY
2.1 ▇▇ ▇▇▇▇▇▇▇▇, Deputy Minister nor Departmental Official shall make any commitment to any employee which contravenes the terms and conditions set out in this Memorandum.
2.2 In any transfer or relocation, the objective is to relocate the employee in the most efficient manner that is at the most reasonable cost to the Employer, and having the minimum detrimental effect of the employee.
2.3 For any transfer, the terms and conditions of reimbursement are to be discussed with the employee at the time of their notification of transfer, and are to comply with this Memorandum.
2.4 Under the terms of this memorandum, there is a minimum distance qualification which governs the eligibility of an employee for reimbursement of removal expenses. Generally, expenses will not be paid where the old and new places of duty are within the same metropolitan area or are within reasonable commuting distance of each other. Moving expenses shall not be paid unless:
(a) the new place of duty is outside a radius of 32 kilometres (20 miles) from the old place of duty, and
(b) the new residence is outside a radius of 32 kilometres (20 miles) from the old residence.
2.5 The Employer shall pay removal expenses, including disconnecting and reconnecting services, for a mobile home provided the total costs of such does not exceed the cost of comparable removal expenses involving conventional housing.
