Informal Procedure definition

Informal Procedure. When a potential grievance arises, the graduate student employee(s) and, at the graduate student employee's option, the representative(s) of GEO, shall meet with the representative(s) of the Administration closest to and best able to discuss and resolve the matter. Informal attempts at settlement shall not extend beyond twenty days without the written agreement of each of the parties. The Administration and GEO agree that informal resolutions of grievances do not set precedents and that there shall not be, at any level of a formal grievance procedure, any reference to information gathered, statements made, or action taken during the informal stage.
Informal Procedure. The aggrieved party shall request a meeting in writing to discuss the grievance or complaint with the person who is directly concerned with the grievance in a face-to-face meeting. This shall be accomplished within ten (10) days after the grievant knows or should have known the act or conditions on which the grievance is based. In no event, however, may a grievance be filed more than thirty (30) days following the date of the occurrence from which the grievance arose. Failure to raise the alleged grievance as herein provided shall be considered as a waiver of the rights granted in this Article.
Informal Procedure. The informal procedure, as the term would imply, is a procedure whereby a Member who believes there has been misapplication or violation of a term of this Agreement or College policy/Procedures listed within Section 5 Tables B & C can informally discuss the matter with his or her Division ▇▇▇▇. The purpose of this discussion is to seek resolution of the issue. If the Faculty Member and the ▇▇▇▇ cannot resolve the issue through informal discussion, the parties will have the opportunity to present the matter to a Peer Review Panel prior to the initiation of a formal grievance. Both the Member and the College should recognize that in some circumstances the problem may be due to miscommunication, misunderstanding, personality conflict, or other reasonably resolvable issue, and that informal conflict resolution may be more appropriate for addressing the issue. Conflicts can often be resolved if the parties involved communicate their concerns, listen to each other, and show a willingness to compromise and/or change. The informal procedure is designed to enable and empower the parties to reach a mutually satisfactory resolution.
