Intensive Outpatient Treatment definition

Intensive Outpatient Treatment means treatment in which an individual receives at least three clinical hours of institutional care per day (24-hour period) for at least three days a week and returns home or is not treated as an inpatient during the remainder of that 24-hour period. A Hospital shall not be considered a ‘home’ for purposes of this definition.
Intensive Outpatient Treatment means the ASAM criteria level of care totaling a minimum of nine hours of clinically managed outpatient treatment services per week for adults or a minimum of six hours of clinically managed outpatient treatment services per week for juveniles.
Intensive Outpatient Treatment. (or day treatment) means the level of care equivalent to Adolescent Level II in the ASAM PPC-2R. This level of care is usually provided in a school or community-based program that extends the school day to include a wide array of services. It is appropriate for youth with severe problems related to their AOD use that have the potential to distract from recovery efforts.

Intensive Outpatient Treatment means services provided in a non-residential intensive patient centered outpatient program for treatment of substance use disorders. The service as described satisfies the level of intensity in ASAM Level 2.1.
