Interim Services definition

Interim Services as described in 45 CFR §96.121, means: a. Services provided, until an Individual is admitted to substance abuse treatment program, for reducing the adverse health effects of such abuse, promoting the health of the Individual, and reducing the risk of transmission of disease. At a minimum Services include counseling and education about HIV and tuberculosis, the risks of needle sharing, the risks of transmission of disease to sexual partners and infants, and steps that can be taken to ensure that HIV and tuberculosis transmission does not occur; b. Referral for HIV or TB treatment Services, where necessary; and c. Referral for prenatal care, if appropriate, until the Individual is admitted to a Provider’s Services. d. If County treats recent intravenous drug users (those who have injected drugs within the past year) in more than one-third of its capacity, County shall carry out outreach activities to encourage individual intravenous drug users in need of such treatment to undergo treatment and shall document such activities.
Interim Services means services that are provided until an individual is admitted to a substance use treatment program, including education about communicable illnesses, harm−reduction strategies, referral for other services or medical care, and referral for prenatal care for pregnant women; to reduce the adverse health effects of substance use, promote the health of the individual, and reduce the risk of transmission of disease.
Interim Services has the meaning ascribed thereto in the Services Agreement.
