Maternity or Paternity Leave definition

Maternity or Paternity Leave means a person’s absence from work for all Affiliated Employers: (a) by reason of the pregnancy of such person; (b) by reason of the birth of a child of such person; (c) by reason of the placement of a child with the person in connection with the adoption of such child by such person; or (d) for purposes of caring for a child of such person immediately following the birth of the child or the placement of the child with such person.
Maternity or Paternity Leave means any period during which an Employee is absent from work as an employee of an Affiliate (i) because of the pregnancy of such Employee; (ii) because of the birth of a child of such Employee; (iii) because of the placement of a child with such Employee in connection with the adoption of such child by such Employee; or (iv) for purposes of such Employee caring for a child immediately after the birth or placement of such child.

Examples of Maternity or Paternity Leave in a sentence

  • The Hours of Service credited for a Maternity or Paternity Leave will be credited in the computation period in which the absence begins if the crediting is necessary to prevent a Break in Service in that computation period, or in all other cases, in the following computation period.

  • Solely for purposes of determining whether a Break in Service has occurred in a computation period for purposes of an Employee’s eligibility for Plan participation, Vesting, and benefit accrual/allocation, an individual on Maternity or Paternity Leave will receive credit for up to 501 Hours of Service which would otherwise have been credited to such individual but for such absence, or in any case in which such hours cannot be determined, eight (8) Hours of Service per day of such absence.

  • The term Maternity or Paternity Leave means that an Employee is absent from work because of the Employee's pregnancy; the birth of the Employee's child; the placement of a child with the Employee in connection with the adoption of such child by the Employee; or the need to care for such child for a period beginning immediately following the child's birth or placement as set forth above.

  • The Trust is able to support scholars who wish to undertake a period of Maternity or Paternity Leave during the tenure of their award; for more information, please see Section 4 of our guidelines.

  • Solely for the purpose of determining whether a Participant has incurred a One Year Period of Severance, a Participant will not incur the first One Year Period of Severance that would otherwise be counted if severance is due to an Authorized Leave of Absence (as defined below) or a Maternity or Paternity Leave (as defined below).

Maternity or Paternity Leave means an absence from work (i) by reason of pregnancy of the individual; (ii) by reason of a birth of a child of the individual; (iii) by reason of the placement of a child with the individual in connection with the adoption of such child by such individual; or (iv) for purposes of caring for such child for a period beginning immediately following such birth or placement. The Participant shall give the Plan Administrator such timely information as the Plan Administrator may reasonably require to establish that the absence from work is for one of the foregoing reasons and to establish the number of days for which there was such an absence.
