The term Maternity or Paternity Leave means that an Employee is absent from work because of the Employee's pregnancy; the birth of the Employee's child; the placement of a child with the Employee in connection with the adoption of such child by the Employee; or the need to care for such child for a period beginning immediately following the child's birth or placement as set forth above.
The Hours of Service credited for a Maternity or Paternity Leave will be credited in the computation period in which the absence begins if the crediting is necessary to prevent a Break in Service in that computation period, or in all other cases, in the following computation period.
If a Participant remains on Maternity or Paternity Leave beyond such second anniversary, the Participant’s Period of Severance shall be deemed to begin on such date for purposes of this Section 2.03.
In determining if a Break in Service for participation and vesting has occurred, an individual on Maternity or Paternity Leave will receive credit for up to 501 hours which would otherwise have been credited but for such absence, or in any case in which such hours cannot be determined, 8 hours per day of such absence.
Solely for purposes of determining whether a Break in Service has occurred in a computation period for purposes of an Employee’s eligibility for Plan participation, Vesting, and benefit accrual/allocation, an individual on Maternity or Paternity Leave will receive credit for up to 501 Hours of Service which would otherwise have been credited to such individual but for such absence, or in any case in which such hours cannot be determined, eight (8) Hours of Service per day of such absence.
