Maximum allowable working pressure definition

Maximum allowable working pressure means the maximum gage pressure permissible at the top of a completed ves- sel in its operating position for a designated temperature.
Maximum allowable working pressure or "MAWP" means the maximum gauge pressure as determined by employing the stress values, design rules, and dimensions designated by the accepted design and construction code or as determined by the Chief Inspector in accordance with this Chapter.
Maximum allowable working pressure means the maximum gauge pressure permissible at the top of equipment, a container or a pressure vessel while operating at design temperature;

More Definitions of Maximum allowable working pressure

Maximum allowable working pressure or "MAWP" means the maximum gauge pressure permissible (in accordance with the design requirements) at the top of a vessel in its operating position at the design temperature. This pressure is the least of those calculated for every element of the vessel using nominal thickness exclusive of allowances for corrosion and thickness required for loadings other than pressure. It is the basis for the pressure setting of the pressure relieving devices (e.g., pressure relief valves) protecting the vessel. The design pressure may be used in place of the maximum allowable working pressure in all cases for which calculations are not made to determine the value of the maximum allowable working pressure.
Maximum allowable working pressure or “MAWP” means the maximum gage pressure permissible for boiler to operate.
Maximum allowable working pressure. (MAWP) means the maximum pressure to which a component is designed to be subjected to and which is the basis for determining the strength of the component under consideration;
Maximum allowable working pressure means a pressure that is not less than the higher of the following two pressures, measured at the top of the tank while in operating position: .1 the highest effective pressure allowed in the shell during filling or discharge; or .2 the maximum effective gauge pressure to which tanks for liquids should be designed, which is the sum of the following partial pressures minus 1 bar: .2.1 the vapour pressure (in bar) at 65°C; and .2.2 the partial pressure (in bar) of air or other gases in the ullage space being determined by a maximum ullage temperature of 65°C and a liquid expansion due to the increase of the bulk mean temperature of tr-tf (tf=filling temperature, usually 15°C; tr=50°C; the maximum mean bulk temperature).
Maximum allowable working pressure means the pressure authorized on the design registration or a lesser pressure as indicated on the manufacturer’s data report;
Maximum allowable working pressure means the maximum allowable working pressure set out in the record referred to in section 6.12; (pression de fonctionnement maximale autorisée)
Maximum allowable working pressure means the maximum allowable working pressure set out in the record referred to in section 5.13;
