The MCOP is responsible for promoting the delivery of services in a culturally competent manner, as defined by the National Standards for Culturally and Linguistically Appropriate Services (CLAS) in Health and Health Care (xxxxx://xxx.xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx.xxx.xxx) to all members, including those with limited English proficiency (LEP) and diverse cultural and ethnic backgrounds, disabilities, and regardless of gender, sexual orientation, or gender identify.
The ICB should also ensure that they have a nominated representative with appropriate subject matter expertise to attend National Standards development forums as requested by NHS England.
NHS England shall: ensure that there is appropriate representation by NHS England subject matter expert(s) at National Standards development forums, ensure there is appropriate attendance by NHS England representatives at nationally led clinical governance meetings, and co-ordinate, and support key national governance groups.
The ICB must co-operate with any NHS England activities relating to the assessment of compliance against National Standards, including through the Assurance Processes.
Where the ICB has identified that a Specialised Services Provider may not be complying with the National Standards set out in the relevant National Specification, the ICB shall consider the action to take to address this in line with the Assurance Processes.
