Social and Environmental Safeguard Frameworks definition

Social and Environmental Safeguard Frameworks means, collectively, the Environmental Assessment, the Environmental and Social Management Framework, Resettlement Policy Framework and the Regional Process Framework.

  • If any activities proposed for inclusion in the Project would, pursuant to the Social and Environmental Safeguard Frameworks, require one or more Supplemental Social and Environmental Safeguard Instruments, the Recipient shall prepare and furnish, together with such proposed work plan, a draft of each such Supplemental Social and Environmental Safeguard Instrument.

  • The Recipient shall ensure that the Project is implemented in accordance with the provisions of the Social and Environmental Safeguard Frameworks and each of the Supplemental Social and Environmental Safeguard Instruments in a manner satisfactory to the Association, and the Recipient shall not amend or waive any provision of the aforementioned without the prior written agreement of the Association.

  • The Recipient shall ensure that the Project is implemented in accordance with the provisions of the Social and Environmental Safeguard Frameworks and each of the Supplemental Social and Environmental Safeguard Instruments in a manner satisfactory to the World Bank, and the Recipient shall not amend or waive any provision of the aforementioned documents without the prior written agreement of the World Bank.

  • The Recipient shall, through the NEA, cause the Project to be implemented in accordance with the guidelines, procedures, timetables and other specifications set forth in the Social and Environmental Safeguard Frameworks; and, except as the Association shall otherwise agree, the Recipient shall not assign, amend, abrogate, or waive, or permit to be assigned, amended, abrogated, or waived, the aforementioned, or any provision thereof.

  • The Recipient shall ensure that the Project is implemented in accordance with the provisions of the Social and Environmental Safeguard Frameworks and each of the Supplemental Social and Environmental Safeguard Instrument.

Related to Social and Environmental Safeguard Frameworks

  • Environmental and Social Management Framework or “ESMF” means the environmental and social management framework of the Project States dated March 31, 2005, which, inter alia, sets forth the environmental and social safeguards applicable to the Project including the identification, assessment and mitigation of potential environmental and social impacts arising from carrying out Project activities, measures to protect cultural property, proposed management and mitigation measures, and the relevant institutional framework required, as updated by the Project States from time to time in a manner satisfactory to the Association;

  • Environmental Safeguards means the principles and requirements set forth in Chapter V, Appendix 1, and Appendix 4 (as applicable) of the SPS;

  • Environmental and Social Management Plan or “ESMP” means a site-specific environmental and social management plan to be prepared in accordance with the parameters laid down in the ESMF and acceptable to the Association, setting forth a set of mitigation, monitoring, and institutional measures to be taken during the implementation and operation of the Project activities to eliminate adverse environmental and social impacts, offset them, or reduce them to acceptable levels, and including the actions needed to implement these measures.

  • Indigenous Peoples Safeguards means the principles and requirements set forth in Chapter V, Appendix 3, and Appendix 4 (as applicable) of the SPS;

  • Environmental and Safety Requirements means all federal, state, local and foreign statutes, regulations, ordinances and similar provisions having the force or effect of law, all judicial and administrative orders and determinations, all contractual obligations and all common law concerning public health and safety, worker health and safety and pollution or protection of the environment, including all such standards of conduct and bases of obligations relating to the presence, use, production, generation, handling, transport, treatment, storage, disposal, distribution, labeling, testing, processing, discharge, release, threatened release, control, or cleanup of any hazardous materials, substances or wastes, chemical substances or mixtures, pesticides, pollutants, contaminants, toxic chemicals, petroleum products or by-products, asbestos, polychlorinated biphenyls (or PCBs), noise or radiation.

  • Environmental and Social Standards or “ESSs” means, collectively:

  • Health and Safety means, in relation to a recipient or a third person, the prevention of death or serious personal injury,

  • Environmental and Social Standard 8: Cultural Heritage”; (ix) “Environmental and Social Standard 9: Financial Intermediaries”; (x) “Environmental and Social Standard 10: Stakeholder Engagement and Information Disclosure”; effective on October 1, 2018, as published by the Bank.

  • Technical safeguards means the technology and the policy and procedures for its use that 27 protect electronic PHI and control access to it.

  • Environmental and Social Commitment Plan or “ESCP” means the environmental and social commitment plan for the Project, dated May 24, 2023, as the same may be amended from time to time in accordance with the provisions thereof, which sets out the material measures and actions that the Recipient shall carry out or cause to be carried out to address the potential environmental and social risks and impacts of the Project, including the timeframes of the actions and measures, institutional, staffing, training, monitoring and reporting arrangements, and any environmental and social instruments to be prepared thereunder.

  • Technological safeguards means the technology and the policy and procedures for use of the technology to protect and control access to personal information.
