Special Waste definition

Special Waste means those substances as defined in the Illinois Environmental Protection Act, 415 ILCS 5/3.45, and further defined in Section 809.103 or 35 Illinois Administrative Code, Subtitle G, Ch.1.

More Definitions of Special Waste

Special Waste means solid waste that is not a hazardous waste regulated under chapter 23-20.3 and includes waste generated from energy conversion facilities; waste from crude oil and natural gas exploration and production; waste from mineral and ore mining, beneficiation, and extraction; and waste generated by surface coal mining operations. The term does not include municipal waste or industrial waste.
Special Waste means Waste that requires special handling and management due to the nature of the waste, including, but not limited to, the following: (A) containerized waste (e.g. a drum, barrel, portable tank, box, pail, etc.), (B) waste transported in a bulk tanker, (C) liquid waste, (D) sludge waste, (E) waste from an industrial process, (F) waste from a pollution control process, (G) Residue and debris from the cleanup of a spill or release of a chemical, or (H) any other waste defined by Texas law, rule or regulation as "Special Waste".
Special Waste hazardous waste," "extremely hazardous substance," "regulated substance," "solid waste," "hazardous materials," or "toxic substances," under any Environmental Law; (ii) any material, waste or substance which is or contains: (A) petroleum, oil or a fraction thereof, (B) explosives, or (C) radioactive materials (including naturally occurring radioactive materials); and (iii) such other substances, materials, or wastes that are classified or regulated as hazardous or toxic under any applicable federal, state or local law or regulation. To the extent that the laws or regulations of any applicable state or local jurisdiction establish a meaning for any term defined herein through reference to federal Environmental Laws which is broader than the meaning under such federal Environmental Laws, such broader meaning shall apply.
