Total Return definition

Total Return means the annual compounded rate of return for an investment fund for a period that would equate the initial value to the redeemable value at the end of the period, expressed as a percentage, and determined by applying the following formula:
Total Return. A periodic measure of a Fund’s overall change in value, which assumes the reinvestment of dividends and capital gains distributions.
Total Return means return in terms of both income, whether received or accrued, and capital appreciation, whether realised or unrealised.

More Definitions of Total Return

Total Return means the amount equal to the combination of ordinary income before incentive compensation, realized capital gains and losses and unrealized capital appreciation and depreciation of the Company for the period, in each case determined on an accrual and consolidated basis.
Total Return for any period since the end of the prior Reference Period shall equal the sum of:
Total Return with respect to any Partnership Units for any period since the end of the prior calendar year shall equal the sum of: (i) all distributions accrued or paid (without duplication) on such Partnership Units plus (ii) the change in aggregate Net Asset Value of such Partnership Units since the beginning of such year, before giving effect to (x) changes resulting solely from the proceeds of issuances of additional Partnership Units, (y) any allocation or accrual to the Performance Allocation and (z) any applicable stockholder servicing fee expenses (including any payments made to the General Partner for payment of such expenses) allocable to such Partnership Units. For the avoidance of doubt, the calculation of Total Return will (i) include any appreciation or depreciation in the Net Asset Value of any relevant Partnership Units issued during the then-current calendar year but (ii) exclude the proceeds from the initial issuance of such Partnership Units.
Total Return means, for any security and for any period, the cumulative total return for such security over such period, as measured by (i) the sum of (A) the cumulative amount of dividends paid in respect of such security for such period (assuming that all dividends other than Extraordinary Distributions are reinvested in such security as of the payment date for such dividend based on the security price on the dividend payment date), and (B) an amount equal to (1) the security price at the end of such period, minus (2) the security price at the beginning of such period, divided by (ii) the security price at the beginning of the measurement period; provided, however, that if the foregoing calculation results in a negative number, the "Total Return" shall be equal to zero.
Total Return means, with respect to the Performance Period, the compounded total annual return that would have been realized by a stockholder who (A) bought one Share on the first day of the Performance Period at the Share Price on the date immediately preceding such day, (B) reinvested each dividend and other distribution declared during such period of time with respect to such Share (and any other Shares previously received upon reinvestment of dividends or other distributions) in additional Shares at the Fair Market Value on the applicable dividend payment date, and (C) sold all the Shares described in clauses (A) and (B) on the last day of the Performance Period at the Share Price on such date. As set forth in, and pursuant to, Section 9 hereof, appropriate adjustments to the Total Return shall be made to take into account all stock dividends, stock splits, reverse stock splits and the other events set forth in Section 9 hereof that occur during the Performance Period. In calculating Total Return, it is the current intention of the Committee to use total return to stockholders data for the Company and the Peer REITs available from one or more third party sources, though the Committee reserves the right in its reasonable discretion to retain the services of a consultant to analyze relevant data or perform necessary calculations for purposes of this Award. If the Committee delegates the calculation of Total Return to a valuation or other expert, including matters such as the determination of dividend reinvestment and the inclusion or exclusion of REITs as Peer REITs, the Committee is entitled to rely on such valuation or other expert.
Total Return means the actual rate of return on all investments in a CDA over a given period of up to five years, including realized interest, capital gains, dividends, and distributions, but exclusive of account fees and expenses.
Total Return means (without double-counting), as of a particular date of determination, a dollar amount equal to the sum of: (A) the Total Shares as of such date of determination multiplied by the Common Stock Price as of such date, (“Current Market Cap”), minus (B) (x) the Initial Market Cap with respect to the calculation of (i) the Annual Pool on the First Valuation Date, (ii) the Interim Pool, (iii) the Final Absolute TRS Pool and (iv) the Final Relative TRS Pool, and (y) the Adjusted Market Cap calculated as of the prior Valuation Date with respect to the calculation of the Annual Pool on the Second Valuation Date and the Final Valuation Date, plus (C) an amount equal to the sum of the total dividends and other distributions declared between the Effective Date and such date of determination so long as the “ex-dividend” date with respect thereto falls prior to such date of determination (excluding dividends and distributions paid in the form of additional shares of Common Stock or Units), in respect of the Total Shares as of such date of determination (it being understood, for the avoidance of doubt, that such total dividends and distributions shall be calculated by reference to actual securities outstanding as of each record date with respect to each applicable dividend or distribution payment date, and not by multiplying the aggregate amount of distributions paid on one OP Unit that was outstanding as of the Effective Date between the Effective Date and such date of determination by the number of Total Shares as of the date of determination).
