Total Return definition

Total Return means the annual compounded rate of return for an investment fund for a period that would equate the initial value to the redeemable value at the end of the period, expressed as a percentage, and determined by applying the following formula:
Total Return. A periodic measure of a Fund’s overall change in value, which assumes the reinvestment of dividends and capital gains distributions.
Total Return means return in terms of both income, whether received or accrued, and capital appreciation, whether realised or unrealised.

  • Any amount by which Total Return falls below the Hurdle Amount and that does not constitute Loss Carryforward Amount will not be carried forward to subsequent periods.

  • The measurement of the change in Net Asset Value Per Unit for the purpose of calculating the Total Return is subject to adjustment by the Board of Directors of the General Partner to account for any dividend, split, recapitalization or any other similar change in the Partnership’s capital structure or any distributions that the Board of Directors of the General Partner deems to be a return of capital if such changes are not already reflected in the Partnership’s net assets.


More Definitions of Total Return

Total Return for any period since the end of the prior Reference Period shall equal the sum of:
Total Return means the amount equal to the combination of ordinary income before incentive compensation, realized capital gains and losses and unrealized capital appreciation and depreciation of the Company for the period, in each case determined on an accrual and consolidated basis.
Total Return means, for any security and for any period, the cumulative total return for such security over such period, as measured by (i) the sum of (A) the cumulative amount of dividends paid in respect of such security for such period (assuming that all dividends other than Extraordinary Distributions are reinvested in such security as of the payment date for such dividend based on the security price on the dividend payment date), and (B) an amount equal to (1) the security price at the end of such period, minus (2) the security price at the beginning of such period, divided by (ii) the security price at the beginning of the measurement period; provided, however, that if the foregoing calculation results in a negative number, the "Total Return" shall be equal to zero.
Total Return with respect to any Partnership Units for any period since the end of the prior calendar year shall equal the sum of: (i) all distributions accrued or paid (without duplication) on such Partnership Units plus (ii) the change in aggregate Net Asset Value of such Partnership Units since the beginning of such year, before giving effect to (x) changes resulting solely from the proceeds of issuances of additional Partnership Units, (y) any allocation or accrual to the Performance Allocation and (z) any applicable stockholder servicing fee expenses (including any payments made to the General Partner for payment of such expenses) allocable to such Partnership Units. For the avoidance of doubt, the calculation of Total Return will (i) include any appreciation or depreciation in the Net Asset Value of any relevant Partnership Units issued during the then-current calendar year but (ii) exclude the proceeds from the initial issuance of such Partnership Units.
Total Return for any period since the end of the prior calendar year shall equal the sum of: (i) all distributions accrued or paid (without duplication) on the Performance Participation Units outstanding at the end of such period since the beginning of the then-current calendar year plus (ii) the change in aggregate Net Asset Value of such Performance Participation Units since the beginning of such year, before giving effect to (x) changes resulting solely from the proceeds of issuances of Performance Participation Units, (y) any allocation or accrual to the Performance Allocation and (z) any applicable shareholder servicing fee expenses (including any payments made to the General Partner for payment of such expenses). For the avoidance of doubt, the calculation of Total Return will (i) include any appreciation or depreciation in the Net Asset Value of Performance Participation Units issued during the then-current calendar year but (ii) exclude the proceeds from the initial issuance of such Performance Participation Units.
Total Return or "𝒓𝑻𝑹(𝒌)𝒊" means:
Total Return means, for any security and for any period, the cumulative total return for such security over such period, assuming that all cash dividends are reinvested in such security as of the payment date for such dividend based on the security price on the dividend payment date, computed by taking the market value of the accumulated shares at the end of the period (including fractional shares acquired with dividend proceeds) and dividing by the market value of a share at the beginning of the period.
