Urgent Medical Need definition

Urgent Medical Need means the onset of psychiatric or medical symptoms requiring attention within 48 hours to prevent a serious deterioration in the mental or physical condition of an individual.
Urgent Medical Need means the onset of psychiatric symptoms requiring attention within 48 hours to prevent a serious deterioration in a child's mental or physical condition.

  • The Internal Reviewer determining Urgent Medical Need and the Internal Reviewer determining the resolution of the internal appeal may be the same individual.

  • The External Review Agency shall order the external review to be expedited where it determines that there is an Urgent Medical Need.

  • Each request for an expedited review shall contain a description, in writing, from the Patient or Patient’s Authorized Representative demonstrating the Patient’s Urgent Medical Need and may include other information, including medical records, from the Patient or the Patient’s Authorized Representative.

  • However, if the application is associated with ongoing work (eg request a program, late review) or if there is an Urgent Medical Need identified, DCF will make every attempt to process the application.

  • The RBPO or ACO shall provide the Patient, or the Patient’s Authorized Representative, with a written resolution of the expedited internal appeal concerning an Urgent Medical Need within three business days.

  • Urgent medical condition means a condition that satisfies either of the following:

  • Emergency Medical Technician (EMT means: an individual licensed with cognitive knowledge and a scope of practice that corresponds to that level in the National EMS Education Standards and National EMS Scope of Practice Model.

  • Medical home means a team approach to providing health care that originates in a primary care setting; fosters a partnership among the patient, the personal provider, and other health care professionals, and where appropriate, the patient’s family; utilizes the partnership to access and integrate all medical and nonmedical health-related services across all elements of the health care system and the patient’s community as needed by the patient and the patient’s family to achieve maximum health potential; maintains a centralized, comprehensive record of all health-related services to promote continuity of care; and has all of the characteristics specified in section 135.158.

  • Authorized medical physicist means an individual who:

  • Bio-medical waste means any waste, which is generated during the diagnosis, treatment or immunisation of human beings or animals or in research activities pertaining thereto or in the production or testing of biologicals, and including categories mentioned in Schedule I;

  • Medical support means providing health care coverage for a joint child by carrying health care coverage for the joint child or by contributing to the cost of health care coverage, public coverage, unreimbursed medical expenses, and uninsured medical expenses of the joint child.

  • Objective medical evidence means reports of examinations or treatments; medical signs which are anatomical, physiological, or psychological abnormalities that can be observed; psychiatric signs which are medically demonstrable phenomena indicating specific abnormalities of behavior, affect, thought, memory, orientation, or contact with reality; or laboratory findings which are anatomical, physiological, or psychological phenomena that can be shown by medically acceptable laboratory diagnostic techniques, including but not limited to chemical tests, electrocardiograms, electroencephalograms, X-rays, and psychological tests;

  • Medical services means Medically Necessary services, including, as the context requires, Confinement, treatments, procedures, tests, examinations or other related services for the investigation or treatment of a Disability.
