Visiting Professor definition

Visiting Professor means a faculty member from another educational, industrial, or governmental institution who helps carry out SOU’s teaching, research, or service commitments. See Faculty Bylaws on Academic Faculty, section 5.100 for details regarding these temporary appointments.
Visiting Professor means a full-time faculty member appointed at any rank for a single semester or a single academic year in order to fulfill some special academic need or provide some special enhancement to an existing program. Any such appointment may be made pursuant to the first paragraph of Article XX, Section B.
Visiting Professor means a Professor invited by the Executive Council for a fixed term of years to be appointed by the Executive Council for a short term stipulated in the contract.

  • Nothing in this section shall preclude the Administration from designating a faculty member on a fixed-term appointment as a Visiting Professor.

Visiting Professor. A terminal degree from an accredited institution in the academic or professional discipline to be taught. Demonstrated potential to fulfill the applicable evaluation criteria. The University may also consider other professional activities which by way of example shall include contributions to the professional growth and development of the Program of Graduate and Continuing Education, or, in the case of the professional hired to teach who is not a full-time college or university faculty member, evidence of continued growth and development in the candidate's professional field.
Visiting Professor means an individual who is on leave from another institution and who is appointed to the University for a period of up to two (2) academic years to collaborate with faculty members at the University. These appointments are not subject to the MUN-MUNFA Collective Agreement.
