Degree Programs. For degree programs, the request must include a list of courses required for the program and a copy of the acceptance letter for the degree program. Once the Fire Chief and HR approves a degree program, it is not necessary to submit requests for each term. Instead, the employee completes and submits the appropriate institutes’ term enrollment form to HR. If the employee’s major is changed, department/division heads and HR must approve the new degree.

Degree Programs. The Fire Rescue Chief, may authorize attendance at courses leading to an academic degree in emergency medicine, business, public administration, natural (such as physics, chemistry, biology), life, or health sciences. When attendance at such a course may interfere with a full-time unit employee's regular work schedule, the Fire Rescue Chief will make a reasonable effort to accommodate the full-time unit employee, provided that such adjustments will neither disrupt the normal operation of the department nor place an unreasonable burden on other employees. Any full- time unit employee wishing to utilize this program will submit a written request to the Fire Rescue Chief for approval prior to enrolling inthe program. The request will outline any schedule conflicts and the full-time unit employee’s proposed solution to resolve those conflicts as well as any financial assistance requested or anticipated from the Town. A full-time unit employee who successfully completes such a course at an accredited institution and receives a B or better, or a pass in a pass/fail course, shall be entitled to a reimbursement of up to $600 per calendar year upon providing a transcript to the Town Manager or their designee within 30 days of completion of such course. All other expenses of completing such a course shall be borne by the unit employee.

Degree Programs. If the employee has declared they are pursuing a job related degree, the City may provide financial support for any course required in the program. Should the employee fail to obtain the degree, all non job-related courses shall be reimbursed to the City. If an individual terminates employment with the City within six months of receiving tuition reimbursement, the employee must pay back the amount of the reimbursement for all courses. Procedures
Degree Programs. Online degree programs will be considered when grounded, face-to-face, and/or hybrid program alternatives are not reasonably available. Pre-approval for fully online degree programs will be reviewed and investigated by the Director of Human Resources. Should a member request approval for a program of an ambiguous nature, two LEA representatives from the Labor Management Relations Committee and the Director of Human Resources will review the request. All reviews will consider the university/college accreditation, course accreditation, academic rigor and benefit to students and/or the District. Any program not approved by the committee may not be appealed.
Degree Programs. Students graduating from Xxxxxx County Community College with the Associate of Arts (AA) or Associate of Science (AS) degree are eligible to transfer into Pillar College Baccalaureate programs in Business Administration and Management, Psychology and Counseling, and Biblical Studies. As a supplement to this transfer agreement Xxxxxx County Community College and Pillar College both commit to establishing course transfer recommendations to ensure correct alignment of program requirements including prerequisites.
