Sick Leave Time Off / Care of Family Members. The District shall allow an employee to 25 use a choice of his/her accrued sick or other paid leave to care for a child of the employee 26 under the age of eighteen (18) with a health condition that requires treatment or supervision, a 27 child of the employee who is over the age of eighteen (18) who is incapable of self-care, or a 28 grandchild who is a dependent of and living with the employee if the dependent is under the 29 age of eighteen (18) with a health condition that requires treatment or supervision; or a 30 spouse, parent, parent-in-law, or grandparent of the employee who has a serious health 31 condition or an emergency condition. The definitions of the family relationships are spelled 32 out in RCW 49.12.265. An employee may not take advance leave until it has been earned.

  • Sick Leave Donations Employees in the Unit as well as officers above the rank of sergeant and other non-bargaining unit employees in the Police Department may donate sick leave for the purpose of providing authorized sick leave to any Unit member who has exhausted all accrued annual, compensatory and sick leave. Sick leave means leave earned under Section A. of this Article. The procedures governing donation of sick leave followed in implementing the Sick Leave Donor Program established by the predecessor Agreement between the parties shall remain in effect, except as provided in Section P of this Article. Where the FOP has an established leave donation agreement with another bargaining unit within Xxxxxxxxxx County, the employer agrees to honor the agreement pursuant to the applicable contractual requirements of the bargaining unit and transfer sick leave as requested. Annual sick leave is the sick leave days credited each year to each employee in accordance with the provisions of the local collective bargaining agreements. Banked sick leave is previously accumulated unused sick leave to which unused annual sick leave may be added at the end of each anniversary year.

  • Laid Off Employees A) Should vacancies occur following layoff, those employees on layoff will be recalled to these positions in order of seniority providing they have the capabilities and the qualifications to perform the duties of the vacant position. If no employee on layoff possesses the required capabilities and qualifications, the vacant position will be posted pursuant to Article 15.01.
