01 Definitions. A “sick leave day” is equivalent to 12 hours for sworn employees assigned to a 24-hour shift. Sworn employees normally work an average of 109.2 hours every two weeks when assigned to a 24-hour shift. A “sick leave day” is equivalent to 8 hours for sworn employees assigned to an 8-hour shift. Sworn employees normally work 80 hours every two weeks when assigned to an 8-hour shift. The “daily rate of pay” is one-tenth (1/10) of the bi-weekly rate. If a sworn employee on the 24-hour shift is assigned to an 8-hour position, their accumulated sick leave hours shall be divided by 1.5 to convert to the 8-hour position accumulation. If a sworn employee on the 8-hour shift is assigned to a 24-hour position, their accumulated sick leave hours shall be multiplied by 1.5 to convert to the 24-hour position accumulation.
