The University’s support for additional access and retention measures will be worth £1.64m per year by 2015/16 As part of our Southampton Welcome, we will invest £150,000 in 2013/14 to support students to make the transition to university. Working with schools and colleges we will continue to expand the Access to Southampton programme and have set challenging targets. In 2010/11 the University met or outperformed the location adjusted benchmarks (LABs) that we have set as our target access indicators. We will increase our expenditure on our careers service to £1.15m to enhance opportunities for internship and work placements by 2014/15. We are mindful that the change in tuition fees is still relatively untried and untested with students. We will keep under review our student support package as part of our wider approach to the whole life course of a student. Southampton University Students’ Union (SUSU) and student representatives (academic presidents) will play an active and productive role to inform and enable the delivery of this agreement. The University is committed to clarity and transparency in all of its communications using a range of media and specifically we will highlight our tuition fees and the many ways we will support students.
