Action Steps State scope of practice laws can allow for broad, unre- stricted CPAs between pharmacists and other providers. To build and strengthen collaborative practices, phar- macists can use the following strategies, which were proposed by the APhA Foundation’s expert group: Use simple, understandable terms to describe the patient care services that pharmacists can provide. Educate other health care professionals about the value of including pharmacists on health care teams. Encourage other health professional organizations to work together when proposing changes to scope of practice laws. Set up or participate in interprofessional committees to discuss how scope of practice laws can expand the role of pharmacists and other health professionals in team-based care. Talk with local health care providers about entering into CPAs. Talk with payers about using viable business models to support pharmacists’ patient care services. Share appropriate health information with providers through the use of EHRs. Show relevant stakeholders the value of aligning incentives and reimbursement for all health care team members involved in patient care to improve health and decrease costs. Maintain strong, trusting, and mutually beneficial relationships with patients, doctors, and other providers and encourage those individuals to promote pharmacists’ patient care services. Expanding and promoting pharmacists’ patient care services at the local level can help key stakeholders understand the value of CPAs. Patients, doctors, and other health care pro- viders can share their positive experiences with pharmacists to affirm and promote the value that pharmacists bring to the health care system. They can also champion policies that support collaborative practices.
Construction Staking Contractor shall avoid careless or negligent damage to construction stakes, flags, or marks. If such damage occurs, Contractor shall be required to replace stakes necessary to construc- tion. Contractor’s replacement staking shall be approved by Forest Service. Alternatively, upon Contractor’s request, Contracting Officer may agree to perform such work under E.2.1.8. When A.7 shows that construction stakes are to be set by Forest Service after clearing, Contractor shall submit to Forest Service a written schedule for clearing, construction staking, and construction that will provide Forest Service a reasonable period for setting construction stakes. Time for setting construction stakes may be modified by written agreement. If Forest Service performs construction staking for Specified Roads, timing of such staking shall permit Contrac- tor’s clearing and other construction activity to proceed without hindrance or delay, provided Contractor’s construction activity is reasonably consistent with needs identified in Contractor’s Operating Schedule or amendments thereto. Problem/ Solution Statement Problem California’s forest health crisis is an emergency of unprecedented scope and scale, with disastrous implications for the state’s environment, economy, energy systems, and human life. Unlike essentially all other technologies and solutions proposed to respond to the crisis, gasification has the potential to process forest waste in a way that extracts value and sequesters a large portion of its carbon. Before the recipient’s development of the pre- commercial Powertainer technology, no one had developed gasification technology that could economically respond to the problem. As a result, there have not yet been any large-scale deployments of distributed, commercial-scale gasification technology. The acceleration of tree mortality and persistent drought conditions make finding solutions to this problem more critical with each passing day.
