Adjacency Standards. Adjacency standards apply to stands within and abutting HMAs to promote a diversity of distinct age classes in forest stands of moderate size in HMAs. In order to promote a diverse age class distribution, a 660-foot special management area surrounding clearcut (CC) or overstory removal (OSR) harvest blocks will be maintained as SDWH for 10 years except under certain conditions. Notwithstanding the standards in Section 4.1, when CC harvest is 20 acres or less or, OSR harvest is 50 acres or less, a buffer is not required. Partial cut harvest will be allowed in these buffers; however, post harvest stand conditions must meet SDWH.
