Aides as Substitute Teachers. An aide, whose position falls into the ESP bargaining unit, and who is also certificated as a teacher or as a substitute teacher, may be required to act as a substitute teacher in the absence of the teacher for whom he/she directly works. When the Aide is functioning as a substitute teacher, he/she will be compensated according to the provisions in the current Teachers’ Association collective bargaining agreement for substitute teaching, in lieu of the substituting aide’s regular hourly rate of pay.
