Whenever a holiday listed above falls on Saturday or Sunday, the preceding Friday or the following Monday will be declared a holiday. The choice of the Friday or Monday will be at the Employer’s discretion. If any other day is proclaimed as a statutory holiday by the Provincial or Federal Governments, it will be granted to employees as an additional paid holiday provided that such holiday is a school holiday. If any of the above holidays fall or are observed during an employee’s vacation, the employee will be entitled to an extra day’s pay at the employee’s regular straight time hourly rate or to an extra day’s vacation with pay at a mutually agreeable time. The Employer agrees to a complete shutdown between Christmas and New Year’s without loss of pay for all employees. The specific days of the shut down will be in accordance with Appendix of the Collective Agreement.
