ARTICLE UNION REPRESENTATION. The Company agrees to recognize four (4) stewards appointed by the Union for the purpose of processing grievances arising under the terms of this Agreement and meeting with the Company in respect of same. The stewards so appointed shall elect or otherwise select constitute a Union committee of four employees; it being grievance committee. It is understood and agreed that the Chairperson no more than two (2) members of the full-time grievance committee shall be entitled to meet with the Company at any one time; The Company agrees to recognize a Union bargaining unit section may be a member committee consisting of three (3) employees from the transportation department and one (1) employee from the maintenance department. ARTICLE UNION REPRESENTATION. The City agrees to grant leavewith pay to not more than two (2)members of the same platoon for the purpose of attending to Union provided however, that the sum total of such leave for persons shall not exceed, per year, shifts or the equivalent thereof. Leave with pay may also be granted at the discre- tion of the Chief or his designate for the purpose of attending grievance or arbitration hearings, Union or Labour Management Relations meetings, negotiation meetings, or Pension Committee meetings. The City recognizes the Union elect or otherwise select appoint one stewardfor each platoon and a GrievanceCommittee of not more than four (4)members, one of which must be Chairman. When a labour management dispute arises which requires the immediate involvement of a xxxxxxx, he may request permission to leave his regular duties to deal with the dispute with Management, which permission not be unreasonably withheld.
