Automation or Other Technological Change. 3. When, as a result of automation or other technological change, the Employer determines that new or greater skills are required than are already possessed by affected Members under present methods of operation, such Members shall be given a reasonable period to acquire skills necessitated by the new method of operation. There shall be no reduction in pay and benefits during the training period of any such Member. It is recognized that the Member may make a request for such training. Such requests shall not be arbitrarily denied. The Employer shall bear all costs associated with the training.
