BIB TAPS AND STOP VALVES. 18.1 They shall be screw down type and shall conform to IS-8931 and ISI marked as given in Sch „A‟. Spindles, glands, crutches etc. shall be of extruded brass.

BIB TAPS AND STOP VALVES. 18.10.1. Bib taps and stop valves shall be screwed down type, conforming to IS – 781. Spindles, glands, crutches (handle) washer plates, nuts etc, will be extruded or rolled brass rod. Size and type of finish of bib tap, will be as specified in schedule “A”. The handle shall be either crutch or butterfly type securely fixed to the spindle valve shall be of the loose leather seated pattern. The cocks (taps) shall open in anticlockwise direction 18.10.2. Bib cock and stop cock shall be polished bright. In case these are required to be nickel plated, the plating shall be of the first quality with a good thick deposit of silvery whiteness. Minimum finished weight of tap or cock or valve will be as specified below in table or in clause No. 18.14.2 of MES SSR Part–I, 2009 Print. 18.11. FANCY TYPE BIB TAPS AND STOP VALVES:- Fancy type bib tap and stop valve shall be confirm to IS-8931 unless otherwise specially mentioned, these shall be of cast copper alloy nickel chromium plated screwed down type. The minimum finished weight of fancy type bib tap and stop valve will be as specified below in table or as specified in clause 18.15.1 of MES SSR Part–I, 2009 Print.
BIB TAPS AND STOP VALVES. 18.1.5.1 They shall be screw down type and shall conform to IS 781-1984, (Specification for cast copper alloyscrew down bib taps and stop valves for water service). A bib cock (bib tap) is a draw off tap with a horizontalinlet and free outlet and a stop cock (stop tap) is a valve with a suitable means of connections for insertion in apipe line for controlling or stopping the flow. They shall be of specified size and shall work by means of disccarrying a renewable non-metallic washer which shuts against water pressure on a seating of right angles tothe axis of the threaded spindle which operates it. The handle shall be either crutch or butterfly type securelyfixed to the spindle valve shall be of the loose leather seated pattern. The cocks (taps) shall open inanticlockwise direction. 18.1.5.2 The bib cock and stop cock shall be polished bright. In case these are required to be nickel plated, theplating shall be of the first quality with a good thick deposit of silvery whiteness capable of taking high polishwhich will not easily tarnish or scale. The minimum furnished weight of bib tap and stop cock shall be as specified in Clause 18.14.2 of SSR Part I.
