Block Schedule. Middle school and high school employees on a block schedule shall have a preparation/conference time totaling not less than ninety (90) minutes per day, excluding relief periods. A maximum of thirty (30) minutes per week shall be available for use at the principal’s discretion.
Block Schedule. Unit members' workday shall consist of three (3) instructional periods, one (1) 15-minute advisory period, a 30-minute duty free lunch and a 45-minute preparation period.
Block Schedule. 1. Each full time high school teacher shall be assigned to five (5) academic assignments (classes, special assignments, as mutually agreed or cafeteria duty as defined in VI C.3.c). These will comprise twenty-five (25) of the thirty-nine (39) “half blocks”.
2. Of the fourteen (14) remaining “half-blocks” five (5) will be CEA periods (as defined in VI B.3), scheduled one per day unless the teacher and administration mutually agree that the CEA periods be scheduled otherwise.
3. Another five (5) “half-blocks” will be preparation periods scheduled at least one per day, during the periods designated 1 through 7. Unless the teacher and administration mutually agree that these preparation periods be scheduled otherwise.
4. The remaining four (4) “half blocks” will remain unassigned and available for designation as mutually agreed upon by the teacher and the administration.

Block Schedule. For employees who work a block schedule, vacation time shall be paid with a shift differential for shifts that would have been paid a shift differential. Vacation time that does not fall on shifts for which shift differential is paid shall not be paid shift differential.
Block Schedule. If an existing school intends to implement a “block-schedule” where the time of the regular instructional periods is increased and each class meets every other day, the following procedures must be invoked:
Block Schedule. The normal load for a full-time teacher in the high school will be teaching three periods in a four-period day. The School District may not involuntarily assign a high school teacher to teach four periods in a four-period day.

5. If a defined duty (as in Article VI C.3.a.b.d.) is assigned during “X/S&T Block”, it cannot be for longer than a one “half-block” duration unless the teacher and administration mutually agree that these duties are scheduled for a longer duration.
6. The administration will strive to assure that less than full time staff schedules comply with the above. The association shall be informed of any exception.
7. Should department or faculty meetings be scheduled during “X/S&T block” these will result in the meeting requirement outlined in article VI-A to be reduced accordingly.
Block Schedule. Eight Period Day Effective with the 2012-13 school year, the high schools will have an eight (8) period day. The teaching schedule will consist of the following over the normal two-day block schedule: ● Teachers will teach five (5) academic periods and one advisory period, or at the option of administration, the teachers will teach six (6) academic periods. ● Teachers will have one 90-minute individual preparation period over the normal two-day block schedule and one flexible preparation period. However, all teachers will not necessarily have a preparation period every day. ● The use of the flexible preparation period will be determined by administration, after consultation with the teacher. ● See Appendix F regarding the administrative guidelines for the block schedule, including the use of the flexible preparation period. The guidelines in Appendix F are not part of the contract.
Block Schedule. The eight period day may be combined with a block schedule. A block period will be the length of two of the regular periods. A teacher following a block schedule will teach no more than three blocks per semester and will have the same duty and planning period schedule as indicated in 11.01.02 above.
