CANCELLATION OF DEBENTURES PAID, ETC. All Debentures surrendered for the purpose of payment, redemption, exchange or registration of transfer, or in discharge, shall, if surrendered to the Company or any paying agent or any Debenture registrar, be surrendered to the Trustee and promptly cancelled by it, or, if surrendered to the Trustee, shall be promptly cancelled by it, and no Debentures shall be issued in lieu thereof except as expressly permitted by any of the provisions of this Indenture. The Company may at any time deliver to the Trustee for cancellation any Debentures previously authenticated and delivered hereunder which the Company may have acquired in any manner whatsoever and the Trustee shall cancel any Debentures so delivered. The Trustee shall destroy cancelled Debentures, and upon request furnish to the Company certificates evidencing such destruction, unless the Company directs their return to the Company by written request.
