Catastrophic Medical Condition definition

Catastrophic Medical Condition. An extraordinary debilitating or life-threatening illness or injury resulting in the employee’s inability to work for a period of at least 30 continuous work days, with an anticipated need for a continued leave of 30 or more continuous work days. The employee must provide the Committee with certification from the attending physician verifying (1) the existence of such an illness or injury,
Catastrophic Medical Condition. An extraordinary debilitating or life-threatening illness or injury resulting in the need for additional sick leave. “Catastrophic” does not include a chronic or recurring medical condition. The employee must provide the Committee with certification from the attending physician verifying the existence of such an illness or injury, including verification that the illness or injury is debilitating or life- threatening.
Catastrophic Medical Condition. An extraordinary debilitating or life-threatening illness or injury resulting in the employee’s inability to work for a period of at least 30 continuous work days, with an anticipated need for a continued leave of 30 or more continuous work days. The employee must provide the Committee with certification from the attending physician verifying (1) the existence of such an illness or injury, (2) that the employee’s inability to work for the previous 30 continuous work days was directly related to that illness or injury, and (3) the employee will be unable to return to work for 30 or more continuous work days because of that illness or injury. The Committee reserves the right to obtain a second opinion at Board expense.
