Common use of Certificate of Ownership Clause in Contracts

Certificate of Ownership. The Administration shall provide a minimum of two (2) raised seal copies of a Certificate of Ownership for that Training Ship. The Academy shall post one (1) copy of the certificate on the Training Ship’s navigation bridge, and one (1) in a conspicuous location near the gangway. The Certificate of Ownership will read approximately as follows: Certificate of Ownership This certifies that the United States Training Ship [Insert VESSEL NAME] is owned by the United States of America, represented by the Secretary of Transportation, acting by and through the Maritime Administrator. This vessel is a Public Vessel of the United States and is engaged solely in non-commercial public service. This vessel has the legal status of a Public Vessel of the United States and is entitled to all the immunities and privileges accorded to such a Public Vessel. This training ship is the property of the United States of America. It is furnished to the State of by the Department of Transportation, Maritime Administration for the purpose of training persons to become officers in the Merchant Marine of the United States. Neither the State, the Commanding Officer, nor any other person has any right, power or authority to create, incur or permit to be imposed upon this vessel, any lien whatsoever.
