The Childcare Act 2006 is a legislative provision that establishes the legal framework for the regulation and provision of childcare and early years services in England and Wales. It sets out the duties of local authorities to ensure sufficient childcare for working parents, outlines requirements for the registration and inspection of childcare providers, and introduces standards for early years education. For example, the Act requires local authorities to assess local childcare needs and support the delivery of free early education for young children. Childcare Act 2006. The Hirer shall ensure that any activities for children under eight years of age comply with the provisions of the Childcare Act 2006 and the Safeguarding Vulnerable groups Act 2006 and only fit and proper persons who have passed the appropriate Criminal Records Bureau checks should have access to the children. Checks may also apply where children over eight and vulnerable adults are taking part in activities. The Hirer shall provide the Village Hall management committee with a copy of their CRB check and Child Protection Policy on request.

Childcare Act 2006. You must ensure that any activities for children, young people and other vulnerable adults are only provided by fit and proper persons in accordance with the Safeguarding Vulnerable Groups Act 2006 and any subsequent legislation. When requested, you must provide us with a copy of your Safeguarding Policy and evidence that you have carried out relevant checks through the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS).

Emergency procedure instructions, assembly points etc. should be clearly displayed on the notice board. The capacity of the hall, i.e. the number of people allowed on the premises at any one time should be detailed in the hiring agreement (2.3).
