Conflict with State Law. (a)--Notwithstanding the other provisions of this Agreement, an employee shall not be required to become a member of or continue membership in the Union, or to pay initiation fees or membership dues to it, except as otherwise provided in Subsection (b), as a condition of employment, if employed in any state that prohibits or otherwise makes unlawful membership in a labor organization as a condition of employment.
