Common use of Cooperation In the Field of Intellectual Property Clause in Contracts

Cooperation In the Field of Intellectual Property. The Parties, recognizing the growing importance ofintellectual property (hereinafter referred to in thisArticle as "IP") as a factor of economic competitiveness inthe knowledge-based economy, and of IP protection in thisnew environment, shall develop their cooperation in thefield of IP. Such cooperation may include the exchange ofinformation on: (a) public awareness activities of the importance ofIP protection and the function of IP protectionsystems to their respective nationals; (b) improvement of IP protection systems and theiroperation; (c) policy measures conducive to ensuring adequateenforcement of IP rights; and (d) automation of administrative processes of IPauthority in order to enhance its efficiency. Note: Information provided from a Party to the other Partypursuant to this Article shall not includeinformation regarding individual cases ofinfringement of intellectual property rights so asnot to be used by the receiving Party in criminalproceedings carried out by a court or a judge.
