Covering Other Classes. Principals will make all efforts to secure a substitute in the case of a teacher's absence. When a qualified substitute is not available, or an emergency arises during the school day, teachers may be requested to cover classes of an absent teacher during their scheduled planning/conference period. The Principal shall request teachers to cover classes during their planning/conference periods on an equitable basis. The teacher may refuse in the event they can demonstrate to the Principal that they have educationally-related matters to attend to. Such coverage shall be compensated at $15 per class period, and forms shall be submitted to the appropriate administrator within thirty (30) days. (See Appendix G for Class Coverage Form).
