Common use of Current Sick Accruals While in Authority Employ Clause in Contracts

Current Sick Accruals While in Authority Employ. ‌ An employee who is separated from Authority service through discharge, resignation, retirement or layoff may elect to receive pay for sick leave accumulated, but unused, while in the employ of the Authority or to transfer said sick leave to another governmental unit, provided such election is made within a period of not more than one (1) year after separation from employment. If an employee elects to receive a lump-sum payment, said payment shall be computed as follows: One (1) hour of pay for each four (4) hours of sick leave that has been accumulated, but unused, while in the employ of the Authority, for all accruals up to and including seven hundred twenty (720) hours.
