Common use of Demand Charge Escalation Clause in Contracts

Demand Charge Escalation. The Monthly Demand Charge will increase by a factor equal to one- half (1/2) the annual change in the “Canadian Consumer Price Index, All Items Not Seasonally Adjusted”, for the previous calendar year as published monthly in “The Consumer Price Index” as published by Statistics Canada (Table: 18-10-0004-13), or zero, whichever is greater, commencing April 1, [year] and each April 1st thereafter.
