Description of Unbundled Elements. 8.2.1 Tandem Switching USWC will provide a tandem switching element on an unbundled basis. The tandem switch element includes the facilities connecting the trunk distribution frames to the switch, and certain switching functions, including those facilities that establish a temporary transmission path between two other switches, but not including the transport needed to complete the call. The definition of the tandem switching element also includes the functions that are centralized in tandems rather than in separate end office switches, such as call recording, the routing of calls to operator services, and signaling conversion functions.
