Doctoral Dissertation Research. 556 Doctoral dissertation research undertaken by Faculty in those departments where the doctorate is not recognized as the terminal degree or required for the purpose of achieving tenure shall be considered as Scholarly/Creative Activity in the year(s) in which such research is undertaken, provided the applicant furnishes documentary evidence of the nature of the research and provides an abstract documenting the importance of the endeavor to the discipline and the appropriate departmental committee and Department Head provide a qualitative statement supporting the importance of the doctoral research. 557 3.
