Ejusdem Generis Rule Sample Clauses
The Ejusdem Generis Rule is a principle of legal interpretation that limits the meaning of general words that follow specific terms in a list to items of the same type as those specifically listed. For example, if a contract refers to "cars, trucks, motorcycles, and other vehicles," the rule would interpret "other vehicles" to mean vehicles similar to cars, trucks, and motorcycles, rather than including unrelated vehicles like airplanes or boats. This clause ensures that general terms are not interpreted too broadly, thereby providing clarity and preventing unintended or overly expansive interpretations of contractual language.
