Except to the extent Clause Samples
The "Except to the extent" clause serves to limit or qualify the application of a provision by carving out specific exceptions. In practice, this clause is used to indicate that a rule or obligation applies only insofar as it is not otherwise modified or overridden by other terms in the agreement or by applicable law. For example, a party's obligation to perform a duty may be subject to exceptions outlined elsewhere in the contract or by statutory requirements. This clause ensures clarity by explicitly acknowledging that certain provisions may not apply universally, thereby preventing conflicts and unintended consequences within the contract.
