Field Work. ‌ 15.1 The employer shall provide an employee who undertakes fieldwork with relevant equipment and special clothing which shall remain the property of the employer, provided that the employer may agree to an allowance, in lieu of the provision of such equipment and clothing, of up to $21.34 per day, depending on the equipment supplied by the employee. During a field trip or expedition, the employer shall provide the employee with suitable food and transport or reimburse the employee for such costs on an actual and reasonable basis. An employee on a field trip shall be provided with accommodation of a standard appropriate to the circumstances. Where fieldwork is undertaken as part of a research programme, that programme shall meet these costs.

Field Work. ‌ a. For the purpose of this agreement, field work shall mean: i. A day field trip which does not necessitate the employee being away from their place of residence overnight; ii. A field trip which necessitates the employee being away from their place of residence for one night or more, up to 20 consecutive nights; iii. An expedition which necessitates the employee being away from their place of residence for more than 20 consecutive nights. b. An employee has the right to object to undertaking field trips and expeditions as defined in sub clause (a) of this clause on reasonable grounds. The employer undertakes to adequately consider an employee’s reasonable objection to field trips and expeditions and wherever possible to give reasonable notice of the field trip or expedition. c. An employee who undertakes field work of any kind covered by this clause shall be provided by the employer with equipment and special clothing deemed by the employer to be necessary for the field work, and such equipment or special clothing shall remain the property of the employer. In lieu of the foregoing, an employee may be paid a sum agreed upon by the employer and the employee as partial reimbursement of the cost of provision by the employee of such equipment or special clothing, which shall remain the property of the employee. d. It shall be the duty of the employer to take all reasonable steps to ensure that all equipment and clothing supplied at any time during field work is in a safe working condition, and that where necessary, the employee is given adequate instruction in its proper use.
Field Work. The Consultant shall describe the work performed to sufficiently research information to recover the existing monumentation on the highway project. Describe and delineate the existing baseline, right of way and center line monumentation and how it is tied into the project traverse and adjusted into the project survey network. The Consultant shall describe how the existing right of way line, and baseline were established. Chronology - Give a brief description of the progression of the project. A narrative detailing the methodology utilized to establish all existing Baselines and ROW lines within the project limits is required. Instrumentation - Describe the make, model and serial number of each instrument, and accessory equipment such as tripods, tribrachs, leveling rods, etc., age of all equipment, condition of equipment, and date of last calibration, collimation or repair work used on the project. . Deviation from instructions - Describe any deviation from the procedures and specifications stated in the project instructions.

An employee engaged on a day trip shall be entitled to time off in lieu of overtime, on the basis of one hour for each hour of overtime worked. g. An employee engaged on a field trip shall be entitled to one day’s time off in respect of each day worked on that field trip, which would normally be the employee’s day off, to be taken at a time mutually convenient to the employee and the employer. h. Field Work. When an employee is required to perform work away from his station on his regularly scheduled workdays, he will be paid at least eight (8) hours at his regular hourly rate for each regularly scheduled workday while away from his station, whether traveling, on call or working.

No employee will be assigned to a temporary duty assignment (TDY) against his wishes. All temporary duty assignments of ten (10) days or longer will be given in writing to the employee affected and the station chairman or the Local President of the Union or his designee.

C. During a field work assignment, the employee will, while away from his base, be paid reasonable, actual expenses for meals, lodging, and transportation as approved by operating management. Un-receipted expenses will not exceed, without the approval of the Company, the maximums established by the Company. If the field work is outside of the United States and its territories, the Company will either provide advance payment or arrange for the payment of all expenses for required work permits, temporary visas, or any associated fees required to perform the work. D. The distribution of field trips will be governed by the following four (4) principles in addition to procedures as agreed to by the Company and the Union at each station, base or location. 1. Employee(s) selected to support the trip must be qualified to perform the task and able to meet the scheduled departure time. 2. Crew Chiefs or highly skilled employees may be assigned by a Supervisor, exclusive of the field trip policy. This would be for jobs such as engine changes, major repairs, electrical problems, avionics, etc. These personnel are not to take the place of a mechanic, but will be used to assist in the correction of complex maintenance items. 3. In the event of an emergency or when there are insufficient or no volunteers for a field trip the Company will assign qualified employees with the lowest occupational seniority on duty or as per the field trip procedures where applicable. 4. All classifications will be on a separate field trip list and temporary duty assignment list except for Crew Chiefs, which will be included with the respective classifications.
